Relativity and Smarsh Announce Collect Integration for Faster Import of Archived Communications Data into Relativity aiR

September 28, 2026

Relativity, a legal data intelligence company, and Smarsh, a digital communications data and intelligence company, today announced a new Collect capability for Smarsh Enterprise Archive, enabling customers to move existing Smarsh data directly into Relativity aiR so legal and compliance teams can get to review faster.

Smarsh provides a cloud-native, AI-powered platform that captures, archives, and monitors digital communications, giving organizations the foresight to identify regulatory, reputational, and operational risks before they escalate into financial loss or public exposure. Smarsh’s solutions are specifically designed for heavily regulated industries, including financial services, public sector, insurance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals where large volumes of sensitive data must be preserved, monitored, and readily available for legal and compliance review.

Historically, moving Smarsh case data into Relativity has required a manual export-and-import process. The new Collect integration removes those manual steps, allowing users to transfer existing Smarsh case data, including email, chat, and file data, directly into Relativity aiR so case teams can move to review faster.

Faster time to review, with less risk

By eliminating manual export-and-import, the integration minimizes the risk of data handling errors that can occur during file transfers and helps maintain a clean, auditable chain of custody from Smarsh through to Review in Relativity aiR. This is particularly important for organizations managing regulatory inquiries, investigations, or litigation involving large volumes of archived communications, where defensibility and data integrity are paramount.

Control without compromise

Smarsh case teams retain control over what data is made available for import: users select an existing case within Smarsh, and only that case's data is transferred into Relativity aiR. This helps ensure organizations can scope collections to the matter at hand, without exposing unrelated data.

Once imported, legal and compliance teams can analyze Smarsh communications data alongside other case data, supporting faster identification of key issues, more efficient review workflows, and stronger defensibility across the case lifecycle.

Built for the scale of regulated data

Relativity aiR is designed to handle the breadth and complexity of enterprise data at scale, and this integration extends that foundation. As organizations continue to generate growing volumes of data subject to regulatory oversight, the Smarsh-to-Relativity aiR integration gives legal and compliance teams a faster, more secure way to bring that data into review.
