How did they do it?
- Summarized and reviewed thirty-two 200-300+ page transcripts for key insights using Relativity aiR for Case Strategy.
- Extracted key facts within minutes, saving hours of manual work to make a tight deadline.
- Reduced burden on resources and alleviated pressure on the legal team, allowing attorneys to focus on more strategic work.
The Challenge: A Landslide of Transcripts
When Cincinnati-based law firm Cummins Law LLC took on a large, fast-paced financial services case, the team was confronted with dozens of deposition transcripts – each running 200-300+ pages long. Every transcript needed to be summarized, analyzed, and distilled into key facts to inform ongoing depositions.
Traditionally, this meant long nights and stress on the firm’s resources. Teams of attorneys would need to manually comb through every page, unsure where to focus their attention. Inaccurate AI summaries from the court reporting service didn’t help, leaving the firm struggling to keep pace.
In need of backup, Cummins turned to Page One and Bright Line Counsel as a rapid response partner in this project, slotting seamlessly into Cummins case team.
The Solution: Relativity aiR for Case Strategy
To overcome these hurdles, Page One and Bright Line introduced Cummins to Relativity aiR for Case Strategy – a generative AI solution built specifically for attorney case prep.
With the green light from Cummins, Page One and Bright Line dove right in. “We wanted to test aiR’s ability to accurately pull key facts out of lengthy transcripts in an efficient manner,” says Bob Roberts, president of Bright Line Counsel.
Page One prepared the transcripts for analysis, did a quick demo and training for their teams, and let aiR for Case Strategy get to work. Once aiR for Case Strategy was in place, Bright Line directed the evaluation process by curating prompt creation, validation, and performance testing to ensure reliability and accuracy.
The powerful generative AI rapidly pulled key elements from the transcripts that accurately reflected the contents of the deposition. Page One and Bright Line marveled at the results.
“When we read through the first extracted facts, we knew the information was accurate and the key items were being extracted,” Andrew recalls.
The Validation: Building Trust in AI
Fast facts are exciting, but the real magic happens in validation.
“Attorneys have concerns about implementing generative AI that have hallucinations and inaccurate information,” Andrew notes. “While hallucinations can occur, it is the legal team’s responsibility to verify all information.”
Bright Line validated aiR’s outputs against the transcripts, confirming consistency and reliability across multiple iterations. After several rounds, they found that aiR consistently produced accurate, defensible facts. Over time, they shifted from a “verify everything” mentality to a “trust and confirm” protocol, cutting review time dramatically without sacrificing quality.
"We went from spending hours per transcript to extracted key facts within minutes. Our confidence grew quickly once we saw that aiR for Case Strategy consistently surfaced the same core insights we would have found manually."

But what Page One, Bright Line, and Cummins found most impactful was how much aiR for Case Strategy lightened the lift for their teams.
“Seeing aiR for Case Strategy generate exactly what we would have expected turned our skepticism into excitement,” Andrew recalls. “There was definitely an epiphany that this tool can save us time, and we’ll receive information back quickly.”
“It was easy on our end, as Page One and Bright Line handled the heavy lifting,” says Jim Cummins at Cummins Law. “We told them our project goals, and they created the prompts with our oversight. We are thrilled, not only with the time and cost savings, but also the final work.”
The Results: Speed, Accuracy, and Strategic Freedom
The results were immediate – and measurable.
The collaboration between Bright Line Counsel, Page One, and Cummins Law delivered:
- Time Savings: aiR for Case Strategy enabled fact extraction 70% faster, freeing the attorneys to focus on strategy.
- Cost Efficiency: Tens of thousands of dollars saved on this single matter.
- Strategic Focus: Attorneys shifted from summarizing transcripts to making decisions.
- Greater Collaboration: Junior attorneys – freed from their summarizing duties – joined higher-value strategic discussions, while senior attorneys gained immediate visibility into critical facts and trends.
- Scalability: aiR for Case Strategy prevented bottlenecks when multiple transcripts came in at once.
“aiR for Case Strategy exceeded expectations by proving not just that it worked, but that it was repeatable, defensible, and intuitive,” Andrew says.
Bob Roberts agrees: “This technology allows us more time to think about the next steps and strategy while moving much faster than we could without it. This work is fairly routine in litigation, so being able to save on cost and time, every time, is transformative.”
With a solid foundation in place, Bright Line and Page One continued to support Cummins through motions and trial.
The Future Is aiR
Encouraged by their success, Page One and Bright Line Counsel plan to expand their use of Relativity aiR for Case Strategy across matters – and integrate additional aiR tools.
“Our goal is to expand beyond transcripts into other long-form case materials,” Andrew says. “We’re excited about scaling its use across more matters and integrating with other aiR tools like aiR for Review and aiR for Privilege. The idea of linking insights across different phases of a case is particularly powerful.”
Bright Line Counsel and Page One will continue to guide firms like Cummins Law.
Bob and Andrew also urged other legal professionals to implement aiR for Case Strategy with their teams:
“Don’t hesitate. The time and cost savings are significant, and the learning curve is minimal. If we could do it again, we’d adopt it sooner and use more of the aiR products. We look at this tool as a better way to focus on our strategy.”
"aiR for Case Strategy turned hours of transcript review into minutes of insight. It’s like adding extra hours to the day while keeping our work defensible and reliable. It’s the difference between drowning in transcripts and driving strategy with clarity and speed."
